Summary of Position
The Director of the Family Works Program plays a vital supervisory role in overseeing the in-home parenting support intervention designed to stabilize and strengthen foster, pre / post-adoptive, and guardianship placements at risk of disruption. This program serves families impacted by the complex needs of children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and developmental trauma. The Director ensures the therapeutic and operational integrity of services provided by a team of master's-level Family Works Specialists, who bring deep understanding of developmental trauma and its impact on attachment.
Rooted in the principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), the Family Works Program emphasizes relationship-based, trauma-informed care that helps caregivers build capacity to understand and respond to challenging behaviors with empathy, consistency, and therapeutic support. The Supervisor provides program oversight, training, and case consultation to ensure fidelity to the model, while also supporting staff in delivering flexible, responsive services—including supporting families as needed during evenings and weekends when necessary.
This leadership position requires a strong therapeutic background, supervisory experience, and a commitment to promoting resilience and healing within vulnerable families.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Program Leadership
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, in-home interventions aligned with the Family Works model and principles of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).Utilize therapeutic expertise in complex developmental trauma, attachment-based strategies, identity formation, grief, and loss to guide interventions and support specialists.Monitor fidelity to the Family Works model through case review, observation, and reflective supervision.Provide guidance and oversight, ensuring staff respond in a responsive and trauma-informed manner—including during evenings and weekends (up to 20% of time).Review psychological, medical, educational, legal, and social service records to support accurate assessment and intervention planning.Support the development and implementation of individualized family goals that are strengths-based, trauma-informed, and relationally focused.Attend and support multidisciplinary team meetings related to family progress and goal achievement, primarily in person.Staff Supervision & Development
Provide regular individual and group supervision to Family Works Specialists, incorporating reflective practice, coaching, and therapeutic feedback.Foster a supportive, team-oriented environment where staff are receptive to training, coaching, and feedback.Encourage accountability and continuous improvement through goal setting and performance monitoring.Participate in and lead team and agency-wide meetings, consultations, and trainings, with a preference for in-person attendance.Ensure staff follow internal procedures for supervision, scheduling, and communication with leadership.Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities
Navigate and use various software platforms (e.g., Salesforce) to collect, monitor, and report program data in a timely and accurate manner, as required by the funder and / or the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition.Oversee staff completion of accurate, professional, and timely documentation including intake forms, assessments, progress and activity notes, maintenance plans, billing, and closing summaries.Ensure daily billing entries and activity logs are completed and submitted according to agency guidelines.Maintain oversight of accurate and current records for all assigned clients and families.Support the proper completion of internal referrals to agency services and ensure follow-through with families.Monitor staff calendars to ensure they are current and reflect scheduled appointments, meetings, and availability.Family & Community Engagement
Guide staff in providing face-to-face services with children and families in their homes or community settings to support placement stability and healthy attachment.Encourage strong caregiver partnerships that promote emotional safety, healing, and resilience in families.Support Specialists in navigating and coordinating wraparound services (e.g., schools, therapy providers, family court, community programs).Ensure communication with families, staff, and external professionals is prompt, respectful, and aligned with trauma-informed principles.Champion family empowerment through psychoeducation, validation, and skill-building strategies related to trauma, loss, and behavior management.Equity & Professionalism
