Superior Court in Coconino County, City of Flagstaff, located in the historical courthouse in the heart of downtown, is accepting applications for multiple opportunities for full-time, part-time, job share and temporary on-call Court Reporter positions.
Metropolitan area, Phoenix is 2.5 hours south of Flagstaff.
The position requires Arizona CCR certification, NCRA RPR, reporting verbatim courtroom proceedings and transcribing same, performing related work as assigned. Reporter is responsible for providing own equipment to perform the duties of a Court Reporter.
The position is working in a team / pool setting covering eight judges as needed, including juvenile court, criminal / civil domestic relations cases, as well as Grand Jury proceedings on a rotation basis.
Under general supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in making verbatim stenographic records of legal proceedings and transcribing same; performs related work as assigned.
INCENTIVES :
Relocation assistance up to $2,000.00
60 hours banked vacation to be used immediately.
$1500.00 bonus at the beginning of employment and $1500.00 after one year of hire.
2% incentive pay for other certifications such as Merit, Real Time Certification, and Registered Diplomate Reporter (RDR)
The Court will pay the Arizona Certification Renewal Fee every two years during the term of employment.
Additional transcript income estimated at $10,000-$20,000.00 per year.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to : sitting in court or at desk for machine shorthand writing and transcription; working with and around other court staff, clerk's staff, attorneys, defendants and the public; dealing with interruptions from co-workers, phones and unscheduled hearings; repetitive motion hand / wrist for machine shorthand writing and transcription; vision acuity (near / far) for computer and courtroom work; hearing for courtroom testimony, etc.; touch for shorthand, and computer work.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications : Three years of experience as a court reporter, OR any combination of education, experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Court Reporter or in the process of completing their certification as a Court Reporter.
Preferred Qualifications : Prior Court Reporter experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
Arizona Court Reporting Certification which is RPR plus a written test for knowledge contained in pamphlet. The Court Reporter Standard Certification Program, operated by the Arizona Supreme Court, provides statewide certification for persons in Arizona who are qualified to be certified. A background check will be conducted by Court Security Office.
Currently working on certification would be considered.
This position is non-exempt from overtime.
