Position : Sr Java Engineer

Length : contract

Location : Hybrid (3 days) - Hopkins, MN

JOB DESCRIPTION

We're seeking a Senior Java Engineer with a strong background in development automation. Our team operates in the API space and is currently burdened by a number of manual development tasks , such as pipeline migrations and vulnerability remediation's. These repetitive tasks are slowing us down, and we're looking for someone who can step in and help automate and streamline them.

This is a highly technical and hands-on role ideal for someone passionate about improving engineering productivity through code. AI experience is a nice-to-have , but not required - the core focus is automating development workflows using Java and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automation scripts or tools to eliminate repetitive manual development tasks.
  • Tasks may include : CI / CD pipeline migration, vulnerability remediation, configuration automation , and other developer-focused improvements.
  • Use tools such as Java, Spring Boot, Python, IDE plugins , and optionally AI-based tooling .
  • Act as the point-person for automation-related questions and best practices within the team and across adjacent teams.
  • Collaborate with developers and DevOps engineers to identify pain points and opportunities for automation.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Senior-level experience as a software engineer with deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot .
  • Proven experience automating development tasks and workflows - such as build automation, pipeline configuration, or code generation.
  • Familiarity with CI / CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
  • Comfort working across tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python is a plus , especially as the team currently lacks it).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward reducing manual effort.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in or with financial services organizations.
  • Exposure to AI or Agentic AI tools for developer productivity or automation use cases.
  • Familiarity with IDE customization, developer tooling, or scripting APIs (e.g., IntelliJ, VS Code extensions).
  • Knowledge of security or compliance-related automation tasks (e.g., automated vulnerability scanning or patching).
