Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Position Summary
The EHS Coordinator supports the EHS environmental functions of the facility, with primary responsibility for managing the ISO program. Assists with implementing and ensuring EHS compliance with local, state, and federal safety / environmental regulations and supports required training for safety and environmental programs. Works directly with the EHS Manager and assists in implementing safety and ISO initiatives, training, programs, medical case management, incident investigation, hazard identification and mitigation. Takes an active role in the EMS committee while supporting the facilities Safety Committees.
Duties / Responsibilities
ISO Duties
- Work with the team to develop environmental procedures.
- Schedule EMS Committee target and objective team meetings.
- Schedule and participate with the EHS Manager in conducting internal audits, management reviews, and third-party audits.
- Track required data to graph and monitor trends related to ISO objectives and targets.
- Create and update ISO communication media.
- Schedule, track, and conduct EMS training as needed.
- Implement and train team on waste segregation, including coordinating universal and hazardous waste disposal.
- Maintain environmental compliance events / audits in EiOS.
- Maintain all updates in EiOS, provide document control, and file IAW ISO requirements in EiOS.
- Maintain environmental objective projects in EiOS.
- Work with EMS teams to develop preventative actions and maintain continuous improvement log.
- Ensure regulatory compliance of all local, state, and federal laws and submit required data to third party for regulatory reports.
- Develop relationships in the local community to further environmental awareness and change.
- Communicate with waste management and disposal vendors to coordinate pickup and disposal of waste; communicate with chemical vendors as needed to verify VOCs.
- Lead the cultural change to become more environmentally friendly at home and at work, in conjunction with the EHS Manager.
- Responsible for overall administration of plant ISO procedures and documentation.
EHS Duties
Administer basic first aid to Team Members as needed.Transport and accompany injured Team Members to medical facilities when needed.Participate in the incident investigation process with the EHS Manager and line supervisors.Perform Hazard Walks of the facility, identify hazards and non-conformances, and follow up on corrective actions until closed.Enforce EHS policies and educate team members on best practices and SOPs.Promote a positive EHS culture and participate in EHS initiatives.Participate in third party audits / inspections with the EHS Manager.Assist the EHS Manager with data entry and EHS analytics as needed.Actively participate in the Facility Safety Committee meetings.Conduct New Hire Orientation for new hires as needed.Help create, schedule, and execute annual EHS training.Training
Must participate in on- and off-site training activities as requested by / through the General Manager and / or Home Office Director of EHS.Continually seek personal and professional improvement through reading and participation in external environmental, health, and safety training courses.Lead by example, adhere to all environmental, health, and safety requirements, and strive to become a subject-matter-expert in these requirements.Other
Stand in for and represent the EHS Manager as needed when the EHS Manager is out of the office.Any other duties or tasks as assigned by the EHS Manager and / or General Manager.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.A.S. degree in health & safety or environmental is a plus.OSHA 10 or 30 for general / construction industry is a plus.Basic knowledge of ISO 14001 is a plus.Self-motivated and self-starting; ability to work independently on projects with minimal oversight.Analytical thinker and problem solver; desire to learn and improve skills.Strong organization and time-management skills.Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations is a plus.Good people / communication skills and the ability to follow up and hold others accountable.Must have and maintain a clean driving record.CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.Experience in work comp claims is a plus.Physical Demands
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and / or pulling.Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person; exchange accurate information.Work environment may be not temperature controlled and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures.Work primarily involves sitting / standing, up to 4 hours at a time.Travel
