Job Title : Payroll Business Analyst
Location : Minneapolis, MN (Fully Onsite)
Employment Type : Permanent
Salary Range : $85,000 - $110,000 annually
Position Summary :
LHH is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Payroll Business Analyst to lead and manage the North America payroll function, including oversight of third-party service providers across the U.S. (90%), Canada, and Mexico . This is a high-impact role focused on vendor management, process improvement, and payroll program ownership???not transactional processing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in payroll operations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to shape and improve payroll processes within a collaborative and supportive culture.
Key Responsibilities :
Own and manage the North America payroll program , with a primary focus on U.S. payroll.
Serve as the primary liaison to third-party payroll service providers , ensuring accountability, accuracy, and compliance.
Oversee payroll controls, audits, and adjustments across weekly, hourly, salary, and semi-monthly pay cycles.
Manage relationships with vendors including ADP (wage payments and taxes) , ensuring service quality and issue resolution.
Lead strategic projects to improve payroll workflows, automation, and reporting.
Collaborate with HR, Finance, and global teams to align payroll processes with broader business goals.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Provide guidance and oversight for payroll-related audits and documentation.
Act as the sole payroll expert within the company, with the opportunity to build and grow the payroll function.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, HR, or related field.
5+ years of experience in payroll operations or business analysis.
Strong understanding of payroll systems, controls, and compliance.
Experience managing third-party payroll vendors (ADP preferred).
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and lead strategic initiatives.
CPP certification preferred but not required.
Experience with Workday is a plus but not required.
