Role Summary :

The GIS Coordinator is an office based role. This position will oversee and coordinate all GIS-related processes that support streetlight asset management and infrastructure planning. This role focuses on managing workflows, ensuring data quality across systems, coordinating subcontractors, and tracking project progress. While a foundational understanding of GIS analysis is important, the primary emphasis is on process coordination, data governance, and team collaboration to ensure accurate and timely updates across platforms.

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee GIS-related workflows across internal teams and subcontractors.
• Monitor progress on GIS data updates, deliverables, and reporting milestones to ensure deadlines are met.
• Establish and maintain standardized procedures for data submission, review, and approval.
• Serve as the main point of contact for subcontractors handling GIS tasks, providing guidance and tracking performance.
• Facilitate communication between GIS, engineering, and operations teams to align on priorities and deliverables.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Coordinate periodic data audits and validation efforts to maintain data integrity.
• Track and verify GIS updates impacting other systems and coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain tracking dashboards to monitor GIS task completion, project progress and billing.
• Compile regular reports summarizing GIS data status, project milestones, and subcontractor performance.
• Oversee the production and maintenance of maps that display streetlight locations, conditions, and service areas – using QGis, ArcGIs Pro and others.
• Support GIS analysis or visualization tasks as needed to assist planning or reporting.
• Coordinate with GIS specialists or subcontractors for more complex spatial analyses and mapping needs.
• Train and support team members and subcontractors on GIS data standards, workflows, and quality requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement or automation to enhance efficiency and consistency.
• Stay informed about new GIS tools and technologies and recommend improvements where beneficial.
• Maintain documentation of GIS processes, data standards, and system updates.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, data privacy, and security standards.
