The Director of Accountingis a key leadership role responsible for managing and overseeing the accounts payable and receivable operations for KTI, LLC, a transportation brokerage firm. This position requires strong people and process management skills and the ability to work with both on-site and remote teams.
The Director of Accounting will also collaborate closely with KTI executive leadership while reporting directly to Phoenix Management Solutions, ensuring the seamless delivery of financial services that meet the operational needs of KTI.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Manage Teams
- Direct and develop accounts payable and receivable staff, both onsite and remotely.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular reviews, and provide coaching and constructive feedback.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professional growth, and high performance.
- Financial Oversight and Process Management
- Oversee all aspects of KTI's accounts payable and receivable processes, including collections and vendor / carrier relationships.
- Collaborate with KTI account managers and leadership on outstanding accounts and payment discrepancies.
- Ensure month-end closings, reconciliations, and financial reporting are accurate and timely.
- Utilize and optimize accounting systems and reporting tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Cross-Company Service and Communication
- Serve as the primary accounting liaison to KTI while being employed and directly managed by Phoenix Management Solutions.
- Balance the service expectations of KTI with the internal standards and procedures of Phoenix Management Solutions.
- Communicate effectively with executive leadership in both organizations.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and systems.
- Lead special projects or financial analyses as requested by executive leadership.
Required Skills and Competencies
Proven leadership and management capabilities, with a track record of supervising teams and improving processes.Strong accountability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to receive and act on constructive feedback.Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with NetSuite and Salesforce preferred.Ability to work effectively with remote teams and multiple stakeholders.Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and leadership experience.Logistics or transportation brokerage / intermodal industry experience strongly preferred.Experience working with multi-state employers is a plus.Physical Requirements
