Commercial Construction Project Manager
Established general contractor is seeking a Project Manager to join their Connecticut team and work on projects in Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Specializing in design / build commercial, warehouse, medical, financial, retail, and automotive projects, they focus on both new construction and renovations ranging from $1M to $20M. The company is both profitable and stable, with $22M in backlog for 2025 and additional projects in the pipeline. They are in a controlled growth mode, expanding at a rate of 10% year over year, and have never laid off a Project Manager. Well-respected in the industry, they are taking on larger, high-visibility projects. Their trust-based leadership approach provides employees with autonomy and the ability to take ownership of their work. With a smaller team, there is greater upward mobility and room for career growth.
The Project Manager is responsible for :
- In office daily
- Travel to jobsite 1-2 times / week
- Oversight and accountability for project planning, scheduling, cost management, contract administration and safety management of ongoing projects
- Monitoring project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures, organizing
- Participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner
- Managing the Project Coordinators whose primary job is to support the PM with day-to-day construction activities
- Organizing, attending and participating in project meetings
- Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings
- Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project
- Effectively supporting the project and profitability through strong leadership and management skills
- Reviewing and following plans and specifications in the construction of projects
- Preparing and maintaining Requests for Information and Submittal logs
- Providing timely project updates to the client and architect
- Updating and following-up with project Punch Lists with the architect and construction team
- Assuring that all product info, warranties, site and building as-built drawings, etc. are copied, archived and assembled
The right candidate has the following qualifications :
Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Administration3+ years as a Project Manager with a Commercial GCHas run ground up projects Valued $1M-$20MMEP knowledge is hugeWork out of office in Berlin CT & commutable to projects as needed (1-2 times / week)Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, Project, Word & ExcelGood communication skillsSelf-starter with initiative & enthusiasmStrong mathematical and computer skillsGood time management skills being able to meet deadlineThe Project Manager will receive :
