Project Designer I - Electrical Engineering (New York)

Overview

Join our innovative team as an Electrical Engineering Project Designer focused on creating sustainable built environments. In this role, you'll design electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm systems with an emphasis on sustainable solutions. You'll conduct surveys of existing systems, perform energy calculations, and analyze long-term sustainability for building upgrades. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on New York City's sustainability goals while developing your expertise in electrical engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding with respect to buildings and infrastructure projects. Design of Circuity for power / lighting devices.
• Conduct short circuit, overcurrent coordination, load and arc flash studies
• Perform lighting photometric calculations and lighting surveys of existing buildings
• Become well versed in communicating the nuances of New York City's various laws, building codes, and legislation that require existing buildings to electrify fossil-fuel based systems and upgrade lighting control systems to reduce building energy consumption and greenhouse gases
• Assist with preparing summary documentation (photo reports, site markups, verbal communication)
• Draft schematic and detailed construction documents of various electrical, lighting, and fire-alarm projects in both AutoCAD and Revit
