Responsible for the inspection and economical construction of capital improvement projects and other areas of assignment; monitors construction for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; prepares and maintains inspection records; responds to inspection / project inquiries and complaints; and performs other related duties as assigned.
- Oversees inspections of municipal capital improvement projects, public infrastructure construction projects.
- Plans for and conducts recurring Project Progress / Status meeting with Engineering staff and contractors.
- Evaluates construction inspection workload and assigns appropriate resources to ensure adequate construction oversight on each project.
- Conducts site visits to ensure construction is performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws / code.
- Coordinates with traffic division, utility companies, landowners and other partners before and during construction.
- Inspects public streets, driveways, utility mains, and / or other infrastructure.
- Reviews project plans and monitors for contractor compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, project specifications, and quality standards.
- Acts as a liaison and advisor for other city division / departments regarding standard construction methods and materials
- Prepares and maintains various types of inspection records, reports, and documentation.
- Communicates with contractors, and / or other parties regarding inspection issues and / or other construction matters.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints involving projects and / or inspection activities; assists with complaint investigations as required.
- Participates in reviewing / approving engineering plans.
- Assists with floodplain management activities as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, and four years experience conducting engineering inspections, surveying, construction and / or engineering; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications :
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.Work is performed in a standard office environment and in the field.Subject to sitting, standing, walking on uneven terrain, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.Exposure to variable weather conditions, general construction hazards, heavy equipment, hazardous chemicals, and infectious diseases is involved.J-18808-Ljbffr
