Gilead Community Services seeks a Business Director to bring data-driven insight and strategic leadership to a mission that has changed lives for over 50 years supporting recovery, independence, and community integration for people living with mental health and substance use challenges.

As Gilead focuses on future-proofing, this new role is designed to be the bridge between mission and metrics. Youll help us answer critical questions : Whats working? Whats not? How can we deliver the highest-quality services while ensuring the resources to sustain and expand them?

Your leadership will strengthen the impact of our programs, identify opportunities for growth, and use data to tell the story of our value to clients, funders, and the community. Youll bring departments together, build a clear picture of our operational and financial landscape, and turn that knowledge into actionable strategies that improve outcomes and position Gilead for long-term success.

How Youll Make Your Impact

Build a data-informed, financially sustainable service model

  • Lead fiscal oversight for all mental health and substance use programs.
  • Develop growth strategies that align with mission, quality standards, and revenue goals.
  • Monitor performance metrics, service gaps, and outcomes to guide program enhancements.

Turn insights into action across the organization

  • Establish measurable, data-driven success indicators that go beyond feel-good outcomes.
  • Provide actionable feedback to leadership and staff based on financial, operational, and clinical data.
  • Oversee billing operations, payer mix strategies, and contract compliance to maximize reimbursement.

    • Lead strategic projects and operational improvements

  • Partner with the Gilead Administrative Leadership Team to manage strategic planning, business planning, and agency-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Finance to forecast needs, prepare and monitor budgets, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Manage high-impact projects that enhance billable services, expand offerings, and strengthen community relationships.

    • Align teams and strengthen organizational capacity

  • Bring clinical, administrative, finance, and HR teams together to align resources and processes.
  • Oversee administrative support staff as needed, ensuring smooth coordination across departments.
  • Improve policies, procedures, and administrative systems for efficiency and compliance.

    • Secure resources for growth

  • Research and pursue new funding sources, including public and private grants.
  • Cultivate partnerships with funders, strategic partners, and community organizations.
  • Support development and fundraising efforts to advance Gileads mission.

    • What You Bring :

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in financial management and data analysis, operational strategy, or program administration with a track record of using metrics to guide decisions, improve outcomes, and drive sustainable growth.

  • Skills in program growth and sustainability including identifying revenue opportunities, expanding services, and strengthening community and funder relationships.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic thinking, and communication skills including the ability to present confidently and effectively to diverse audiences.

  • Valid drivers license and insurance .
  • Education : Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or Social Work with an administrative or business focus.

    • Whats a Bonus (But Not Required)

  • Experience in public health or behavioral health, especially with evidence-based and recovery-oriented practices in outpatient and residential service models.
  • Experience in complex funding structures, or Connecticuts mental health and recovery landscape (including 1115 standards).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, Medicaid, and state licensure.
  • Background bridging business and clinical settings.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MPH) with a healthcare or nonprofit focus.

  • Starting salary of $80,000 to $95,000 annually.
