Pay Rate : $45 $52 / hr

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist to join our team in Warren, MI. This role is a dynamic blend of technical, server, and network support, requiring strong troubleshooting abilities and a proactive approach to IT operations. The IT Specialist will be responsible for setting up and maintaining servers, workstations, and network infrastructure, while ensuring system security, performance, and reliability. This position plays a critical role in supporting both end-users and organizational IT initiatives, with an emphasis on adaptability, collaboration, and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Network & Systems Administration (20%) Manage network activity, capacity planning, system performance, and backup / restoration processes using Ubiquiti tools.

Data & Network Security (10%) Maintain security of data, systems, and network environments.

Server Management (15%) Build, maintain, and support physical and virtual server environments, including Ubuntu Linux and Proxmox.

User Support (25%) Create and manage user accounts, decommission accounts as needed, and provide technical support for employees including workstation setup and data transfers.

Maintenance & SOP Development (10%) Develop and implement standard operating procedures for server maintenance.

Workstation Support (15%) Troubleshoot, configure, and image Windows-based workstations.

Reporting (5%) Provide regular IT performance and system status updates to management.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems.

U.S. Citizenship (required for ITAR compliance).

Minimum 4 years of IT experience covering LAN, WAN, and Telecom environments.

Strong background in capacity planning, system monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency with operating systems : Windows Server, Windows 10 / 11, Ubuntu, Debian.

Hands-on experience with : Proxmox, Fog Imaging, Intune, Ceph.io, Ubiquiti Unifi, Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Jenkins, Zabbix, Wazuh, RocketChat, and related technologies.

Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex IT challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of professional IT experience.

Experience in designing, planning, and deploying enterprise-level network and server hardware.

Skills & Abilities

Proficiency with network diagramming software (Microsoft Visio preferred).

Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, Perl, PHP, or VBScript).

Strong working knowledge of TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN / WAN, and firewalls.

Experience with databases, proxy servers, and endpoint protection.

Ability to serve as a technical resource for IT projects and initiatives.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to collaborate across teams.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
