Job Summary

Under the supervision of a crew leader, performs a variety of gardening and / or landscape maintenance techniques in a research environment in order to maintain high quality aesthetic standards throughout the campus community. Performs work in accordance with Institute and regulatory agencies safety standards and practices.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of grounds and / or landscape maintenance while using basic hand tools and equipment such as hoes, shovels, pruners, hedge shears, and periodically use leaf blowers.
• Perform basic pruning and trimming, cultivate flower beds, pull weeds, and water areas as necessary.
• Transplant small plant material and maintain new plantings of shrubs and color beds during establishment periods.
• Identify, flag, and report sprinkler problems.
• Clean maintenance equipment and report equipment problems.
• Police campus areas, sweep hardscape surfaces, and empty trash and cigarette containers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
