Position Summary
The Director of Residence Life Programs is responsible for providing leadership for the personnel activities, operations, and resources within the residence life department. This position reports to the Dean of Campus Life and works alongside the Director of Residence Life and the University Care Team. It is an eleven-month position. Responsibilities include discipleship with students, problem solving, conflict resolution, programming, fostering community, leadership and team development, crisis intervention, evaluation, assessment, and facilities management.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible for :
- Testifying to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirming belief in the University's Statement of Faith, practicing the Life Together Covenant, and supporting the Foundational Documents of Taylor University.
- Providing direct supervision to all full-time residence hall directors and Residence Life Graduate Assistants.
- Collaborating with the Dean of Campus Life to oversee the hiring, evaluation, and development of residence life staff.
- Designing and implementing a residence life program aligned with the university's educational emphasis.
- Sharing responsibility with the Dean of Campus Life for administering the student conduct process.
- Coordinating housing policies with the Housing Coordinator and Dean of Campus Life.
- Serving as a member of the Student Development Care team and providing leadership during campus crises.
- Counseling residents, intervening in crises, and maintaining records of counseling, conduct, and advising sessions.
- Being accessible and visible to students, developing rapport, and participating in hall and campus events.
- Serving on university committees as assigned.
- Submitting regular reports to the Dean of Campus Life and communicating issues within residence halls.
- Participating in rotating on-call duties from August 1 to May 31, including developing on-call plans for breaks.
- Developing assessment plans for Residence Life programs.
- Planning facility updates and maintaining positive relationships with Facilities Services.
- Accepting additional responsibilities as directed.
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and laws, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.
Typical Qualifications
A Master's Degree is required, along with 4-7 years of experience in college or university residence life, spiritual formation, discipleship, or transferable experience.
