Overview
The Education Division Director provides leadership, support and oversight on policy and program development, monitoring, continuous improvement, and field support related to the content areas covered in the STEM field.
This role involves managing and supervising multiple staff members across divisions to ensure provision of support in program leadership, effective planning, coordination, administration, design and development, advisory work, policy development, policy analysis, reporting and recommendations. The scope of the role also includes leadership in programmatic (and potentially financial) oversight of the program(s). Incumbents supervise and / or lead teams in a variety of systems and functions related to supporting curriculum and instruction in the STEM field. Candidates must have experience teaching / leading in the field of Elementary and / or Secondary Mathematics and / or Science and should have extensive experience in direct and explicit, evidence-based mathematical and / or science instructional practices. Work includes considerable interaction with a variety of partners & stakeholders.

Environmental Factors
Normal office working conditions generally prevail. Incumbent must be able to interact, work, and deal with Department staff, educators, state, federal, and local officials, and the general public. Evening and weekend work may be required. Considerable travel is necessary for which private means of transportation must be available.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in education, public or business administration, or a related field AND three (3) years or more of professional level program development, supervision, or leadership experience in a large public or private organization OR professional level experience in a state or local education agency at or above the school principal level.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D or Ed.D
Considerable knowledge of one or more of the educational or technical specialties of the STEM program content areas.
Considerable knowledge of the field of education in general and awareness of developments and programs in other jurisdictions.
Considerable knowledge and skill in planning, developing, and coordinating programs and initiatives.
Considerable knowledge in related laws, rules, regulations
Strong facilitation and collaboration skills, especially with external stakeholders in school systems
Ability to prepare reports of considerable complexity.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to provide team leadership, support, and oversight for division core work programs and processes, and / or other cross division programs
Ability to supervise individuals within the team and ensure work is coordinated
Expertise in related laws, rules, regulations in the related program(s) areas
