We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Permanent Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our dynamic team in the Healthcare industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing educational services to deaf and hard of hearing students in a K-2nd grade resource classroom at Cottageville Elementary. The position requires a minimum commitment of 2 years.
Responsibilities :
1. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student, designed to meet their unique learning needs.
2. Utilize various teaching methods to promote learning and communication, including sign language, oral, auditory, written, and visual aids.
3. Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and specialists to maximize student learning experiences and ensure consistency.
4. Assess students' abilities and progress on a regular basis, and provide feedback to students and parents.
5. Create a positive, structured learning environment to ensure that students observe appropriate social interactions and stay engaged.
6. Provide advice and guidance to parents on how to support their child's learning and development at home.
7. Participate in professional development activities to stay updated with the latest teaching strategies for deaf and hard of hearing students.
8. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and procedures related to special education.
Qualifications :
1. Must hold a valid SC teaching license with SPED endorsement.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching deaf and hard of hearing students.
3. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used by deaf and hard of hearing students.
4. Knowledge of the latest educational techniques and strategies for teaching deaf and hard of hearing students.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
6. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
7. Compassionate, patient, and understanding, with a strong commitment to supporting students' educational needs.
8. A clear understanding of the psychological, social, and emotional needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
