Hardware experience, including design, analysis, assembly, integration, and test; experience using EPDM Windchill, SAP, and design tools. Knowledgeable at a systems level in stress, propulsion, harness routing, strength of materials, subcontracts, electrical design / analysis, software, transportation, and launch operations. Experience working with procurement and outside suppliers. Experience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE's). Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields such as systems engineering, electronics, stress / thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality, and more. Excellent verbal / written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences. Job Overview
Lockheed Martin Space is looking for a Propulsion / Ordnance / Controls Engineer to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program. The role focuses on the design, development, integration, and testing of hardware systems that enable strategic deterrence. The engineer will lead teams, manage design processes, and mentor technical staff to deliver error-free solutions that meet program requirements.
Responsibilities
- Define, interpret, and implement design requirements and coordinate hardware design activities.
- Delegate tasks and manage staffing assignments to sustain engineering capabilities.
- Develop and integrate custom and procured hardware and systems in accordance with engineering process specifications.
- Ensure designs adhere to Common Integrated Processes and drive process improvement into the design culture.
- Provide solution-based technical mentoring to improve program performance and drive error-free design using proven tools, processes, and predictive measures.
- Collaborate with program and functional senior leadership to manage staffing requirements and plan job assignments and rotations.
- Develop layouts using advanced composites and aerospace metallic materials for flight structures and weldments, including metal machining, welding, and composites.
- Travel may be required.
