SUMMARY
The Controls Technician is responsible for the installation and repair of control systems. They must have a thorough understanding of HVAC systems sequence of operations (Hydronics, AHUs, VAVs, etc.). The controls technician will program, commission, diagnose, and troubleshoot various DDC systems. Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges, meters, tools, math, and blueprint comprehension are necessary to accurately document malfunctions, diagnose, troubleshoot, and program control systems. They will also apply judgment and discretion when dealing with the testing and repair of these systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Ability to safely and efficiently install controls components
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical or programming issues
- Installation and repair of various manufacturers’ equipment and controls. Perform required installation and repair of various protocols including but not limited to BACnet, Lonworks, and Modbus etc.
- Project coordination, project management and field supervision including turnover meetings, attending project meetings, coordination between Controls Department and all other divisions along with engineers, general contractors, construction managers, customer building supervisors, equipment vendors, subcontractors, balancers and commissioning agents.
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of these essential duties
- Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties
- Drive a vehicle to various jobsites throughout working hours a. Maintain valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company policy
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
- Perform other duties as assigned

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part of the job duties operating a motor vehicle, the operating, maintaining, and monitoring of heavy equipment and machinery, and working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. For the safety of the employee and others, the employee must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time while operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment and machinery, and while working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces.
