Description :

Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the relevant health system.

Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.

Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of the contract.

RN's must pass a skills exam during orientation.

The exam is open book and covers skills learned.

Candidates are provided with all necessary resources to pass.

A minimum score of 90% is required to pass or termination will occur.

The unit has 22 beds with an average daily census of 6 patients.

Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 5-6.

Common patient diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, ankle replacements, total shoulders, and spine surgeries.

RNs are not required to titrate drips.

Common medications administered include pain medications, antibiotics, and blood products.

There is a charge nurse on each shift who also takes an assignment.

Patient care techs are available on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 13.

Telecommunication technology will be used for monitoring patients.

Tele techs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry.

Shifts are organized with a self-scheduling option, with cyclic rotation.

Weekend work is required every other week.

Holiday scheduling rotates with permanent staff.

Floating to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU with Med Surg acuity may be required.

There is one day of unit / department specific orientation.

Successful nurses possess teamwork skills, flexibility, ownership within the department, and a willingness to learn.

Requests for time off must be submitted upfront and additional requests will not be approved after submission.

The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment.

The charting system used is EPIC.

A BSN degree is required for this position.
