Position Title : Foundry Metallurgist / Quality
Reports to : Foundry Operations Manager
Job Location : Norwich, KS
Employment Type : Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Position Summary
The Foundry Metallurgist / Quality position is responsible for overseeing all metallurgical processes within the Farrar green sand, ductile iron foundry, ensuring that materials, alloys, and heat treatments meet quality, safety, and customer specifications. This role provides technical expertise in process control, continuous improvement, and supports production with expertise in ductile iron chemistry to ASTM and customer supplied standards and specifications.
Position will supervise foundry lab personnel and any foundry quality technicians
Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, and implement alloy specifications, heat treatments, and metallurgical processes.
Direct and oversee all laboratory testing (spectrographic analysis, tensile, hardness, microstructure, sand, etc.).
Develop and maintain process control documentation, specifications, and metallurgical standards.
Lead process improvement projects to reduce scrap, improve yield, and increase efficiency.
Maintain detailed metallurgical reports, certifications, and records for audits and customer requirements.
