Overview
Kimley-Horn's Tampa, FL office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join their MEP team. This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for multiple project types such as office, multifamily, mixed-use, retail, and hospitality projects.
- Develop design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, rise diagrams, life safety and emergency backup power systems, electrical system calculations, fire alarm, solar, and lighting design systems.
- Interact daily and collaborate on multi-disciplinary teams, with interaction across Kimley-Horn offices.
- Prepare project book or sheet specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and support the growth of electrical engineering service areas in the local market and across the country.
- Assist in mentoring, training, and growing younger electrical engineering staff.
- Coordinate with architects, owners, and other consultants on design-related items.
- Perform power system studies such as short circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc flash risk assessments in compliance with safety standards like NFPA 70E.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in an Electrical Engineering role.Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months) is preferred but not required.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards.Willingness to travel to support site visits and client meetings, as needed.Ability to work in a team and mentor junior staff.Preferred : experience in multiple project types (office, hospitality, retail, mixed use, high-rise, multifamily, and some solar design); experience in leading electrical engineering design; proficiency in Revit & AutoCAD; experience in power system analysis using SKM, ETAP, or equivalent; and experience in lighting designs and photometrics using AGI32 or equivalent.Benefits
