Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to support our expanding operations and complex financial activities. The Controller will be a key member of the business operations team, responsible for cash flow forecasting, job costing, financial reporting, and process improvements across multiple customer projects. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-changing, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare business cash flow forecasts and analyze A / R and A / P to support financial decision-making.
Perform job costing , including reviewing charges for accuracy, monthly close, and profit / loss reporting to management.
Review and reconcile discrepancies during month-end close to ensure accurate financial reports.
Manage sales tax filings across multiple states and coordinate federal and state tax filings with external advisors / CPA.
Support year-end tax preparation and audits with external accountants.
Prepare subcontract financial reporting for government contracts semi-annually.
Drive strategic planning for accounting software, banking, and other financial tools.
Document and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls to support company growth.
Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline financial operations, including software enhancements or add-on modules.
Provide coverage for bookkeeping and purchasing during vacations or busy periods.
Manage ad-hoc financial projects as required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field .
Minimum 10 years of accounting experience including financial reporting, job costing, and forecasting.
Proven experience in account reconciliations, general ledger, A / P, A / R, income tax, and sales & use tax .
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills .
Proficiency with QuickBooks / QBO , ERP systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA designation a plus.
Experience in a high-growth startup or industrial automation environment .
Experience converting QuickBooks to other accounting platforms.
Background in construction, contracting, or job-cost-focused industries .
Experience negotiating vendor or service agreements.
