Position Overview
Participates in the repair, maintenance, and construction of all street and drainage related infrastructure in the City of Anna.
Qualifications
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and / or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical / administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Possesses valid Texas Class "C" license when hired.
Job Responsibilities
1. Participates in the maintenance, repair, and replacement of asphalt, gravel, chip seal, or concrete roadways
2. Maintains and repairs drainage structures including bar ditches, storm drains, culverts, inlets, manholes, retention / detention ponds, erosion control structures, and other drainage related infrastructure. Clears ditches to grade.
3. Maintains landscaping of city right of way including mowing, brush cutting and removal, and debris removal.
4. Assists the Streets Supervisor in observing contractors performing street, drainage, or landscaping work for the city.
5. Participates in the placement or replacement of all traffic and street signs.
6. Road striping and maintenance.
7. Attends safety meetings and follows all safety procedures and precautions.
8. Assists in the maintenance and inspection of department equipment and vehicles.
9. Logs completed daily maintenance.
10. Attends training as necessary.
11. Performs grounds maintenance at city facilities.
12. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Ability to compile, assemble, copy, record and / or transcribe data and / or information according to a prescribed schematic or plan. Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures or routines.
Ability to exchange information for the purpose of obtaining information or clarifying details. Performs such within well-established policies, procedures and standards.
Ability to operate, maneuver and / or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and / or materials used in performing essential functions.
Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference data and information, such as water and sewer maps, work orders, and City Employee Handbook.
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi- routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences.
Ability to perform coordinated movements involving placing and turning motions, such as operating a backhoe, front-end loader, or ton truck, dump truck, water pump, probe rod, and various tools.
Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours.
