Job Description
The Director of Human Resources is a senior leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s Human Resource function in alignment with organizational goals. This role provides leadership, guidance, and hands-on support in developing, implementing, and managing HR policies, programs, and practices that foster a positive culture, ensure compliance, and drive associate engagement and retention. The Director partners closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to execute HR strategies that support the mission, culture, and long-term business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Master’s degree or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- At least eight years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success in talent management, employee relations, and organizational development.
- Retail, distribution, or multi-site leadership experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with executive and departmental leadership to align HR practices with organizational mission and goals.Lead day-to-day Human Resource operations including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, training, compliance, and performance management.Design and manage effective talent acquisition processes, provide guidance to managers on interviewing and selection, and ensure a strong pipeline of qualified candidates.Develop and oversee competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, training, and associate incentive programs.Ensure compliance with all employment, benefits, insurance, workers’ compensation, and other applicable laws and regulations.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and workforce trends.Provide coaching and guidance to managers and supervisors on employee and labor relations in compliance with applicable laws.Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance with wage, hour, and reporting requirements.Manage HR technology, systems, and reporting to support accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making.Implement training and development programs to strengthen leadership capabilities and support associate growth.Lead investigations and advise on associate relations matters, performance issues, and compliance risks.Oversee processes for return-to-work, safety, and workers’ compensation.Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on people-related issues while ensuring consistent, fair, and legally compliant practices.Lead, develop, and manage the Human Resources team in support of organizational objectives.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance.Proficiency with HRIS systems and payroll administration.Proven leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.Collaborative leadership style with ability to influence and support organizational change.Ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day HR operations.Benefits
