Our organization is looking for an assistant / tech to support our Optometrist by managing patient care and administrative tasks. This individual is often among the first points of contact for patients in the optometrist practice, providing patient care and some clerical duties.
Skills & Qualifications :
- At least 2 years professional experience preferred
- Associate's or certificate in optical or optometric technology is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic understanding of medical and optometric terminology
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues or address patient concerns
- Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in using optometric equipment and electronic health record systems.
- Ability to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively with team members.
- CPR OR BLS
Responsibilities :
Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, explain procedures, and assist with pre-exam testing.Maintain proper cleaning and maintenance of exam room equipment.Perform basic vision tests like acuity, color vision, and depth perception.Interview patients to gather information about their vision and overall health.Assist optometrist during eye exams, including setting up equipment and assisting with specific tests.Assist with vision therapy exercises as directed by the optometrist.Provide information on eye care practices, contact lens insertion / removal, and proper lens care.Help patients choose frames, taking measurements for proper fit, and explaining lens options.Other duties assigned as neededPosition Status : Part-Time with the possibility of Full-Time
