Our client, one of the country's largest provider of agricultural chemicals is looking for a Plant Safety Manager for their Madison, WI manufacturing plant.
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure safety and regulatory compliance at Madison, WI facilities in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations, and industry standards. Compliance contributes toward 100% Customer Satisfaction, both internal and external.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer Standard Operating Policies and Procedures (SOPP’s) directed at ensuring
safety and regulatory compliance
Work directly with plant operations and supervisors on process improvements toeliminate spills
Be valuable resource for operations in delivering high level of safety performanceand culture
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering to identify opportunities and implement improvements to ensure safe working conditions.Oversee and manage regulatory compliance programs including PSM and LOTO.Manage and facilitate process hazard analysis.Complete risk assessments / audits of current job practices to eliminate hazards on site.Conduct safe behavior observations.Deliver safety updates and communications through multiple avenues including, updates to facility message boards, shift turnover, production and staff meetings.Manage Incident Investigations relating to safety and regulatory compliance, identifying root causes and immediate corrective actions.Work to address and correct near miss conditions to help improve the overall safety ofthe facility through communication, training, and improvements.
Support employee powered safety committee.Walk the floor and talk with operations to address safety concerns, and follow up toensure all items are addressed.
Validate the training of employees on equipment & process-specific training elementsand advise plant management of training deficiencies.
Conduct training for new and existing operators, as needed, to support operations.Interact and assist corporate SQRA with safety and regulatory compliance programs,policies and procedures, including attendance at department meetings.
Assist CG Safety Manager with maintaining an effective 24 hour / 7day ‘emergencyresponse team’.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preferably in Engineering or Safety.5 years of experience in manufacturing and safetyMust have skills adequate to facilitate employee and manager group meetings,conduct group training, and prepare written reports and procedures.
Must have communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.Strong computer skills and knowledge of Power Point, Word, and Excel required.JOB EXPECTATIONS :

Qualifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be capable of sitting and standing for up to one hour at a time.Must be capable of climbing ladders up to 50 feet on occasion.Due to safety concerns, the wearing of contact lenses is prohibited.Ability to wear a respirator for up to 4 hours a day.Follow SOP for facial hair guidelines.
