Role Description
As a Willis A&D Specification Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with architectural and design firms. To drive sales growth, you will conduct product knowledge presentations such as Lunch & Learns, Coffee & Learns, library updates, and other strategic engagement activities.
You will actively track project progress through all design, development, and construction phases using Willis’s tracking tools, including Salesforce and other internal systems. Collaboration with Willis Material Application Specialists will also be key, as you work together to support and close commercial project opportunities.
The primary sales territory for this role includes Orange County, portions of Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara. Willis reserves the right to adjust job duties as needed to meet evolving business requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Promote Willis and its portfolio of surface and design materials to the architectural, design, and construction community.
- Develop a strong understanding of target customers, market segments, and how Willis products align with project needs.
- Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with key industry professionals, including architects, designers, general contractors, and builders.
- Research and track relevant projects, key stakeholders, and decision-makers to increase, secure, and maintain product specifications.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team, leveraging Salesforce and other internal tools to manage specified projects from concept through completion.
- Stay informed on emerging products, materials, and design trends, sharing insights and recommendations with management and the broader sales team.
- Partner with design firms to provide color palette guidance, material selection, and design solutions that support project goals.
- Ensure up-to-date and current product samples and information are on hand for design firms
- Establish key relationships and networking opportunities through participation in trade and community organizations such as IIDA and AIA
- Ensure customer data is updated daily (including email address, phone numbers, and project information) in Salesforce.

Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in sales, marketing, and customer relationship management within the design or building materials industry.Demonstrated success working with architectural and design firms to support project specifications and material selections.Strong understanding of B2B routes to market and project-based sales cycles.Comprehensive knowledge of design materials, fabrication methods, and end-use applications.Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.Ability to collaborate and build relationships with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, designers, contractors, and internal sales teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce (or similar CRM platforms).Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the design, architecture, or building materials field.Post-secondary education in Design, Architecture, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred.
