We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Carlsbad, California. This is a Contract-to-permanent position offering an excellent opportunity to grow within the organization, with the potential to advance to senior roles over time. Responsibilities :
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice matching, deposit handling, and account coding.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring entries and accruals, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct account reconciliations, including credit card reconciliations and downloading transactions from Chase.
- Perform month-end closing activities, including adjusting entries and preparing financial reports.
- Coordinate check runs, wire transfers, and other payment activities in collaboration with the controller.
- Collaborate with customer service to handle returns and ensure proper processing of 1099 forms.
- Generate and maintain reports to support accounting and finance functions.
- Utilize Sage 100 ERP software and intermediate Excel skills to manage and analyze data effectively.
- Apply payments to dealer accounts while properly coding for commissions.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and assist with broader finance functions as needed.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in staff accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Sage 100 ERP software and intermediate-level Excel skills, including formulas, pivots, and VLOOKUPs.
- Solid understanding of general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including high-volume invoice handling.
- Knowledge of sales tax and return merchandise authorization (RMA) procedures.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work onsite initially, transitioning to a hybrid schedule upon becoming a regular employee.
