American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown (PCU) position requiring a CA RN license, 2 years of acute care experience, and strong telemetry skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 35-bed Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown (PCU) unit within an acute care settingCare for adult cardiac stepdown patients including those with arrhythmias, CHF, post-CABG, pacer and chest tubes, temp and transvenous pacers, and patients on multiple titratable dripsNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3-412-hour night shifts with a start time of 6 : 45 PMEvery other weekend required with a rotation of 2 out of 3 major holidaysUses Cerner EMR systemFirst to float among travelers; occasional floating to other Sacramento-area facilitiesBedside report required at shift changeNavy scrubs required, with specific color options for undershirts and jacketsCare for a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiac patient population requiring strong time management and flexibilityTravelers do not take LVAD patientsHospitalists or Intensivists are in-house; nurse aides available based on censusRT and pharmacy services available 24 / 7Self-scheduling used, finalized by the Manager; block scheduling not typically available1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided with a preceptorOnsite pass / fail competency testing for sterile technique (Foley and central line dressing) on first dayHoliday time off requests considered but not guaranteed\n \n Requirements\n
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in a cardiac stepdown or telemetry unitCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (all current with no pending status)Ability to read and interpret EKG stripsMust successfully pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (2 attempts allowed)Two professional references required : one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months and another peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 yearsCandidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year\n Benefits\n
