Staff Accountant
Staff Accountant - Southlake, TX
FLSA Status : Exempt
Position Snapshot : The Staff Accountant will work independently, as well as collaboratively, as part of the accounting team, providing accounting oversight on approximately 80 special purpose entities.
Essential Functions :
- Provide accounting oversight on approximately 80 special purpose entities (SPE's)
- Responsible for maintaining all investor-related information in the company's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Prepare and post journal entries; maintain accurate SPE books and records in the general ledger
- Coordinate the preparation, review, and communication of distributions
- Responsible for compliance with partnership agreements
- Prepare annual financial statements and work with the Tax Department / providers to meet reporting deadlines
- Collaborate with the Investments Department to ensure smooth funds flow and closing process for new investments
- Assist with preparation of revenue and commission calculations upon closing of new transactions
- Assist with accounting related client inquiries
- Communicate and present financial results and various analytical reports to management; perform additional special projects for management
Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceOne to two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in accounting of private equity funds, investment company accounting, or real estate accounting is plus but not requiredCPA is a plus but not requiredAbility to learn on-the-job quickly and perform tasks with little supervisionAbility to quickly adapt to changes in processes and procedures in a rapidly changing environmentExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsProficiency with MS Office products, including an advanced understanding of ExcelStrong attention to detail and accuracySuperior problem solving, judgment and decision-making skillsAbility to think independently, prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlinesMust have the ability to self-direct work and exercise independent judgment to formulate and implement solutionsSupervisory Responsibilities : None
