This position requires at least two years of relevant experience, and candidates must hold active BLS and NRP certifications as well as a California nursing license. The role entails working three shifts a week with specific weekend and holiday requirements, ensuring high-quality care in a busy couplet care unit.

  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced Mother Baby nurse for a travel contract.
  • The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience.

    • Job Requirements

  • Hold an active BLS certification.
  • Hold an active NRP certification.
  • Hold a California License.
  • 1 year postpartum experience required.

    • Schedule Information

  • 3 times a week shifts.
  • Weekend Requirement : 1 weekend every other week.
  • Holiday Requirement : 1 major and 2 minor.

  • Unit : MB (Couplet Care)

    • Additional Details

  • 2 / 17 start Date ONLY
  • Unit : MB (Couplet Care)
  • # of Postpartum beds- 23 at this time ready to be used.
  • # of births per day, per year- Average 3-4 a day, 1100 a year
  • Do ratios follow AWHONN guidelines? - 4 couplets max
  • Common diagnoses / Types of patients : Postpartum moms and Newborns
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips? - NO
  • Common titratable & / or set rate drips - NO
  • Charge Nurse / House Supervisor usually have a free charge nurse.
  • Are there nurse aids / surgical techs on this unit? - NO
  • OB / Neonatologist in house 24 / 7? - yes
  • RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) - Pulse ox
  • Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? - NO
  • EFM System - Fetal link, Cerner
  • Is there a call or standby requirement? If census is low they may be placed on standby
  • Floating Requirements - NO
  • Scrub Color / Dress code - NAVY Blue
  • Unit / Department specific orientation - 1 Day of orientation.
