SUPERVISES : After School and Summer Enrichment Program Staff
STATUS : Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE : Varies to cover After School Program and Summer Enrichment Program Schedules (along with Corps Activities). 35-40 hours / week
FUNCTION : To provide oversight and support to the after-school program, summer enrichment program, and children at The Salvation Army of Northern Kentucky.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain Program area in an attractive and current manner that reflects programming and the season.
- Visit local schools and provide mentoring to children.
- Spearhead licensing process for ASP & SEP through the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
- Remain in compliance with Kentucky Child Care Standards of Practice. Support outreach / evangelistic opportunities.
- Report statistics to Corps Officers and DHQ (Program Department).
- Connect families to corps ministries.
- Plan family activities to bridge community to corps programs for children.
- Ensure compliance with local and state requirements for after-school and summer programs.
- Maintain kitchen and feeding program records per health department standards.
- Manage food inventory, assist with menus, and oversee meal serving.
- Develop relationships with parents, teachers, and guidance counselors.
- Establish relationships with outside agencies for referrals or support.
- Create and adhere to program budgets.
- Collect and record payments and late fees.
- Oversee program staff, plan programming, and ensure compliance with DHQ, United Way, and grant requirements.
- Promote programs for recruitment and attendance.
- Serve as a point of contact for community partners, agencies, and parents.
- Handle program administration tasks, including payments, records, and reports.
- Manage child safety and welfare, monitor activities and behavioral boundaries.
- Coordinate activities with children, including homework help, recreation, and arts & crafts.
- Supervise staff and volunteers, ensuring proper support and compliance.
- Follow emergency and contingency procedures.
- Collaborate with Salvation Army staff to maintain a harmonious environment.
- Maintain timesheets and support Christmas and fundraising activities.
- Handle inquiries and support other staff as needed.
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of The Salvation Army.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Corps Officers.
Qualifications
High School diploma required.Must meet state licensing standards (an Associate Degree or higher in child development / elementary education and / or at least 3 years of experience with school-age children in a licensed center).Effective communication skills.Safety conscious.Minimum age of 21 years.Valid driver's license and ability to drive a minivan / mid bus.Clear reading, writing, and communication skills; English preferred.Self-motivated, highly organized, able to work independently.Ability to work well with individuals with varying needs.Ability to handle difficult situations professionally.Understanding and appreciation of The Salvation Army's mission.Additional Information
