LG Magna e-Powertrain USA, Inc. is expanding its team in Troy, MI and is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Power Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic group focused on electric vehicle powertrain development. In close collaboration with customers, you will contribute significantly to deploying advanced technologies and deliverables from our Headquarters Engineering Center, to drive robust solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer technical communication to ensure correct and meaningful customer requirements are understood by internal colleagues.
- Attend Regular PDT (Production Development Team) meetings and urgent meetings to understand issues during development and mass production phases.
- Provide clear recommendations to the HQ development team by collaborating with Regional Directors and Lead Engineers to ensure customer requirements, issues, and circumstances are well understood through virtual / onsite meetings and customer visits.
- Create and maintain engineering specifications, DFMEAs, and DVP&Rs throughout the development phase.
- Support APQP, DFM / DFA, and IATF 16949 compliance, including defining and verifying critical characteristics and design feasibility.
- Provide on-site engineering support and service at customer locations, including tasks like software reflash and sample delivery / correction.
- Perform root cause analysis of warranty products and coordinate with customers and HQ engineers for problem solving.
- Conduct technical risk reporting based on customer communication and collaborate with HQ and global teams to report risks and issues.
- Communicate technical information for RFQ / RFP and quoting stages; act as the lead technical window person between the customer and HQ.
- Perform technical research and benchmarking for new business opportunities and champion continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic engineering required.Minimum 3 years of development engineering experience in the automotive industry.Skills in analysis of semiconductors (MOSFET, diode, gate drive, OP-amp, digital circuits).Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, control system configurations, and standardized work instructions.Proficient in using circuit analysis equipment (oscilloscope, function generator, power supply).Ability to select and design electrical / electronic circuits and understand analog / digital circuits.Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules for communication across time zones (e.g., HQ in Korea).Proficient in MS Project, MS Office, and MS Teams.Passion for discovery and learning with curiosity to overcome obstacles.Preferred Qualifications
OEM or Tier 1 Automotive experience.Experience in power electronics engineering, including converter and inverter technologies.Bilingual in English and Korean.Legal and Work Authorization
