Overview
Sustainable Talent is partnering with Nvidia, a global leader transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for over 25 years. We are seeking a System Engineering Technician to support our client's Colossus cloud Infrastructure team. This is a W-2 full-time contract onsite in Santa Clara, CA. Competitive pay : $50 / hr - $60 / hr based on experience, education, location, etc., with full benefits and PTO.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware and software components.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of infrastructure to proactively identify and address issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and test new technologies and solutions.
- Document maintenance activities, troubleshooting procedures, and system configurations.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Manage labs and datacenters using DCIM tools, spreadsheets, and task tracking tools; define standards to keep labs safe, clean, and organized.
- Perform routine maintenance on servers, networking equipment, and other infrastructure components in data centers and labs.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues to ensure uninterrupted operation of critical systems.
- Deploy test boards that run automated tests from software developers; triage and root cause board issues not due to hardware or software but potentially due to test setup.
- Remove and redeploy boards requiring software and / or hardware upgrades from board engineers on a regular cadence.
- Collaborate with system architects, chip and board designers, software / firmware engineers, HW / SW QA teams, and applications engineers to drive design, development, debugging, and release of next-generation products.
- Contribute to procurement decisions for the lab by evaluating options, acquiring test copies, performing proof of concepts, and providing recommendations.
- Collect data for critical lab metrics and track progress.
Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor's degree in a technical major or 4+ years of equivalent experience in a lab or datacenter environment.5+ years of experience in data centers or large engineering labs.Familiarity with SCMs (Git / Perforce).Proficiency in DCIM (Nautobot, etc.) and scripting (shell, Python, Ansible).Working knowledge of TCP / IP, DNS, NFS, SSL, etc.Experience with Windows, Linux, and Mac operating systems.Hands-on experience with PCBs, GPUs, and system deployments.Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly.Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance.Ability to deploy and cable servers and test equipment.Proven experience with data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking equipment.Strong knowledge of hardware components.Basic understanding of Unix / Windows and enterprise networking.Ability to collaborate with teammates of varying abilities and experience levels.Ability to identify where sysadmin support is needed and coordinate accordingly.Persistent troubleshooting and out-of-the-box thinking to resolve challenging issues.Enjoy hands-on work with state-of-the-art platforms and close-knit, multi-disciplinary teams.Ways to stand out
Knowledge of DC infrastructure with emphasis on liquid cooling.Lab / datacenter procurement experience.Experience with PDUs and power management in labs.System administrator level experience on Unix / Windows and scripting for automation (bash / python).Basic knowledge of Git / Perforce for script versioning.Ability to write SQL queries to retrieve data from MySQL databases.Energetic, enthusiastic, and team-oriented mindset.Willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done.This position is onsite full-time and will require local travel to data centers within Santa Clara.Equal Employment Opportunity
