Overview

Job Description : the process of planning the deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which will involve installing over 5 million electric and gas Smart Meters. This initiative comes at a time when New York State is seeking to rethink and improve its energy future. The Con Edison AMI smart meter initiative is integral to this effort, and it is the most influential project in the company s history. Information Technology s AMI Implementation Technical Architecture Team is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and innovative Senior Application Administrator to join its management team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) mission critical enterprise applications are implemented on time, according to specification, and meet performance requirements. The candidate will support assigned core AMI applications such as the AMI Head End System (HES), Meter Data Management System (MDMS) or Meter Asset Management System (MAMS).

This Senior Application Administrator is a senior position and should be able to function under minimal direction. While the primary function is to ensure the systems that this candidate is responsible for are up and running, this role will require planning and preparation for modifications to system requirements (including increase capacity and performance requirements), additional systems, and future upgrades. This role requires support throughout the implementation phases of the systems involved, and also the operations and maintenance of these systems after their go-live.

This position requires an Information Technology Bachelor s Degree with 5 years working in a related role. Also requires experience leading technology project teams and performing project management functions. Expertise in application administration and application architecture is preferred.

The following are also required skills :

• Thorough knowledge and experience with the configuration, implementation, and management of monitoring and performance management application technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting capability, including hands-on experience and coordination of issue resolution (including assigning appropriate resources based on skillset, ability, etc.).
• Ability to conduct and / or support environment related discussions and offer guidance, feedback and evaluation support for various technical options that may be presented.
• Considerable knowledge of IT development and support procedures, methods and practices.
• Considerable knowledge of IT software development life cycles and implementation models.
• Considerable knowledge of IT infrastructure requirements gathering techniques.
• Considerable knowledge of IT Program Management techniques, such as work breakdown structures, scheduling, estimating, resource balancing and common Project Management tools.
• Ability to recognize, analyze and provide solutions to difficult information technology problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Con Edison IT and business staff.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Thorough knowledge and experience with a broad range of information technologies including multi-tiered client-server computing environments, web technologies, networking technologies, operating systems, virtualization technologies, applications programming interfaces (and other integration techniques), relational database systems and software development, migration and batch scheduling tools.
