Blueshift's cutting-edge thermal protection and low-dielectric materials are enabling the next generation of aerospace, defense, and electronics systems. The NPI Engineer will be responsible for owning the technical transition of new products from development into manufacturability—figuring out how to run the material, optimize processes, eliminate defects, and achieve manufacturing readiness. This role is central to bridging Product Development and Operations, ensuring that new technologies scale reliably into production under AS9100D standards.
Responsibilities
- Follow and enforce all safety procedures and proactively raise safety concerns.
- Own and oversee the Finishing processes (Current : Slitting and Laminating | Future : Zund cutting and Wabash press).
- Operate finishing machinery directly when necessary to support production.
- Record, track, and analyze yield and scrap data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase yield, throughput, and consistency.
- Develop and refine finishing processes using Lean and Six Sigma methods.
- Collaborate with Quality to investigate and address nonconformances and recurring issues.
- Support operator training, documentation of best practices, and process standardization.
- Provide input into equipment maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
- Cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality to align finishing processes with organizational priorities.
Skills & Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.3–5 years of hands-on manufacturing experience (roll-to-roll or web converting preferred).Strong problem-solving skills and data-driven approach to process improvement.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and / or Six Sigma.Effective communicator, with ability to work cross-functionally.Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on execution with engineering analysis.Proficient in Excel, data collection, and reporting tools.Physical requirements : able to push, pull, or lift 50 lbs; able to wear a respirator as needed.Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship provided).Department : Operations
