Job Overview

Clay Construction, a growing commercial general contractor located in Leesburg, VA specializing in retail, office, and industrial construction has a position immediately available for a Senior Estimator with a minimum of five years of solid commercial construction estimating experience. In this position, you will be responsible for surveying projects, estimating labor and materials costs, and communicating financial cost and project timelines to customers.

Summary of Responsibilities

• The Senior Estimator will lead the pricing and bidding of construction projects
• Solicit and maintain communications with subcontractors and vendors
• Read Architectural / MEP drawings thoroughly to draft bid lists and scope of work
• Visit jobsites with subcontractors to verify understanding of scope prior to receiving bids
• Prepare subcontractor bid packages utilizing company processes
• Use creative approaches and negotiate with subcontractors to gain better pricing
• Managing bids from vendors and contractors and use bid data to prepare detailed a cost analysis
• Buyout contracts with subcontractors
• Prepare and bid change orders during construction process
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects during estimate creation to ensure overall accuracy
• Present estimates to clients in a timely manner
• Recommend cost-reduction / value engineer options
• Assist project management team in final project preparation transactions
