The City of Bloomfield Hills is currently seeking a Full Time Mechanic / Utility Operator with the Department of Public Works.
Pay Range : $51,975 - $61,200 – Dependent on Qualifications

Position Summary
Under the supervision of the DPW Foreman, this position :
- Perform repairs to City vehicles and equipment.
- Perform such manual tasks as patching streets, street sweeping, road grading, mowing grass, planting and maintaining landscaping, removing snow and ice from streets, repair and paint signs.
- Operate trucks, mowers, snowplows, snow blowers, backhoes and trimmers.
- Must comply with the Omnibus Transportation Act, requiring random drug and alcohol testing of CDL employees.
- Perform related duties as required or instructed.
Minimum Requirements
Three years of mechanic work experience, including vehicle and light truck repair.Commercial Driver's LicenseHigh school graduate or GED equivalent.Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment utilized in routine public works and landscaping activities.Knowledge of the operation and basic maintenance of trucks, mowers, and other power-driven tools and equipment.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods including bending, twisting, climbing , maneuvering and lifting up to 75 pounds.Ability to work in all types of weather and under various working conditions.Ability to work effectively with other employees and the general public.Preference given to certified mechanics in the areas of light duty trucks, passenger vehicles, heavy-duty equipment and trucks.
