This position provides exposure to key business divisions including Actuarial Services, Asset Management, Business Management, Corporate Strategy and Development, Financial Analysis and Accounting, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Law and Policy, Marketing and Communications, Product and Business Development, Retirement Solutions, Risk and Compliance, Technology, and Wealth Management.
Key Roles and Duties
Support high-impact business initiatives by contributing to meaningful projects that directly support business objectives and client outcomes
Collaborate on strategic presentations and research projects, contributing to PowerPoint and Excel deliverables and analytical materials that inform key business decision-making
Support a variety of projects by helping to coordinate project materials and meetings to ensure seamless information flow across teams
Drive independent research initiatives to gather market intelligence, competitive analysis, and supporting documentation that advances business objectives

Overview
The 10-week summer internship program is designed to challenge students by providing opportunities for hand-on experiences, skills training and valuable professional networking to assist students with identifying and building on their career interests. This role gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the TIAA, TIAA Bank and Nuveens businesses.
Managers and colleagues will work side by side with summer associates to ensure development and learning. Students can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry, as well as have opportunities to explore various technology tools, techniques, and disciplines. The program includes a robust onboarding week followed by our ongoing speaker series, development and engagement activities, as well as direct access to executive and senior leadership, mentors and previous interns.
The Nuveen Operations Associate
Assists with routine administrative, oversight and transactional operational processes, requirements gathering & documentation, oversight & controls, business performance measurement, process management, and data analysis from various sources within middle office operations to support the investment and client life cycle for the asset management business.
Intern Tracks
Interns have the unique opportunity to select a specific track to focus on during their internship with us. This includes the Analyst track and Engineer Track.
Analyst
Summer associates in the Analyst track leverage and further develop their skills in analysis and reporting, working alongside colleagues and Senior Leadership to further TIAAs understanding of structure, policies and to achieve its goals. You will directly contribute to solutions which support sound decision-making. The recommendations you provide will drive achievement of TIAAs technology goals.
Specific responsibilities may include monitoring & implementation of dedicated measures in Info Security, requirements gathering & documentation, financial oversight & control, portfolio management, business performance measurement, process management, and data analysis from various sources.
Engineer
Summer associates in the Engineer track provide operations support for capture & distribution, processing, quality processes and problem resolution. Your focus would be on ensuring data integrity in systems and adherence to internal and external standards and quality checks. Your skills would further develop as you focus your talents in providing critical support in hardware, software, data or infrastructure components within a specific domain.
Summer associates in this area may also provide support with automation modernization by learning, adopting new tools, and technologies that help applications to scale up. You would work as part of a project team, communicating progress, technical issue reporting, resolution and deployment to production of completed code.
Desired Skills :
