Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic, creative, and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in business development and a proven track record of generating leads, nurturing relationships, and closing deals. Strong connections with Architectural & Engineering firms, developers, franchise owners, and other industry stakeholders are essential. In this role, you will identify growth opportunities, source new construction projects, and play a pivotal role in driving revenue. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, you will be a key contributor to our ongoing success and national expansion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the entire sales process—from initial outreach through proposal development to deal closure.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities across our target sectors : Retail, Higher Education, Healthcare, Hospitality, Semiconductor, Tourism, and Affordable Housing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior industry professionals, including developers, A&E firms, franchise owners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute innovative business development strategies tailored to specific market opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the estimating and marketing teams to ensure a seamless process.
  • Craft compelling responses to RFPs by working with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Deliver persuasive one-on-one and group presentations that effectively showcase our capabilities and achievements.
  • Represent Smith Group of Americas at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings.
  • Work with executive leadership and project teams to ensure smooth project hand-offs and alignment.
  • Meet or exceed established revenue and growth targets.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and potential partnership opportunities.
  • Travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably within construction or related industries.
  • A well-established network within the Architectural & Engineering, Construction Management, development, and franchise sectors.
  • Proven ability to close deals and drive revenue growth.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills—a true closer.
  • Creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to innovate.
  • Highly motivated and self-driven with excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed.
