The Senior Staff Accountant will need to have a deep knowledge and experience working with the General Ledger and managing staff (training and mentorships). We promote internally, develop, and allow our staff to continue to evolve.

This is an on-site opportunity, Monday through Friday 8 AM - 5 PM with some overtime.

Our company, a reputable leader in the construction industry, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Senior Staff Accountant. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial success and growth of our organization while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a wide range of accounting and financial responsibilities, including general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities :

As a Permanent Senior Staff Accountant, your duties will include but are not limited to :

1. Overseeing and maintaining the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately posted and reconciled.

2. Conducting monthly bank reconciliations and preparing financial statements for the management team.

3. Managing accounts receivable and payable, ensuring all transactions are completed in a timely manner.

4. Preparing and analyzing Work in Progress (WIP) reports to monitor project profitability and efficiency.

5. Leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial projections for the company.

6. Utilizing MS Excel to create and present analytical reports to aid in strategic decision-making.

7. Supervising and mentoring junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.

8. Identifying and resolving financial discrepancies and issues, utilizing strong problem-solving skills.

9. Ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and keeping abreast of current financial legislation.

Qualifications :

The ideal candidate for the Permanent Senior Staff Accountant position should possess the following qualifications :

1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.

3. Proficiency in MS Excel and other accounting software.

4. Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end / year-end close process.

5. Proven experience with financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and forecasting.

6. Familiarity with Work in Progress (WIP) reports and job costing methodologies.

7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

8. Strong leadership and team management abilities.

9. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

10. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines.

11. CPA certification is a plus.
