Overview
The IT Generalist is a versatile and proactive team member who supports daily technical operations and contributes to long-term technology planning. Responsibilities include hardware support (laptops, scanners, printers), Microsoft 365 and SharePoint administration, basic network support including switches, documentation of IT procedures, asset inventory management, and coordination with cloud service providers. The ideal candidate is a resourceful problem-solver with strong customer service skills and a passion for learning and enhancing team workflows.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support for hardware, software, and network issues, including workstation setup and configuration.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory and related systems.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams, OneDrive, Outlook, and SharePoint, and assist departments in using SharePoint for document management.
- Deliver training and guidance on collaboration tools and file organization best practices.
- Serve as a liaison with external vendors for hardware and software procurement and support.
- Create and maintain IT documentation including procedures, troubleshooting guides, and onboarding materials.
- Support system backups, disaster recovery planning, and data integrity checks.
- Ensure compliance with internal IT policies, security protocols, and data protection regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and reduce operational friction.
- Research and test new tools or solutions aligned with firm goals, including evaluating cloud provider and vendor services and recommending future needs.
- Participate in strategic planning and contribute to technology roadmaps and IT projects such as upgrades, migrations, and deployments.

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience in IT support or systems administrationPreferred Education and Experience
