Chief Information Officer
UMass Boston invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations of candidates in its search for the next Chief Information Officer (CIO). The next CIO will lead an accomplished team in the delivery of services that enhance the work of UMass Boston’s students, faculty, and staff.
Overview
UMass Boston is a recognized model of excellence for urban public research universities and a designated Minority Serving Institution. The CIO is an executive leader for the Institution and reports to the Vice Chancellor, Administration and Finance, who is a member of the Chancellor’s senior leadership team. In close collaboration with institutional and UMass system leadership, the CIO will help to shape the future of technology advancement at UMass Boston, including decisions around the UMass System ERP selection and implementation, artificial intelligence policy and practices, digital accessibility, and building the organizational structure resulting from vacancies and upcoming retirements.
Responsibilities
The next CIO will lead a team of nine direct reports and serve an integral role in continued technological advancement at UMass Boston. The CIO will oversee the Information Technology Services Division, advance the Division as a key strategic partner across the institution, and manage technology services that support UMass Boston’s students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a strong record of leadership in information technology, experience with enterprise resource planning systems and advanced technology strategy, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The preferred candidate will demonstrate proven success in managing large technology teams, delivering complex technology initiatives, and collaborating with institutional and system partners.

This is a full‑time position that will be performed on site in Massachusetts. The expected compensation range is $225,000–$250,000 with a generous benefits package.
