Description :

Reporting to the Director of the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute, the Senior Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in carrying out classroom responsibilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Provides a warm, nurturing classroom environment for children.
• Provides a welcoming environment for parents and families.
• Follows the procedure and schedule set forth by the staff in the classroom.
• Assists in the execution of planned activities and overall classroom management.
• Carries out the mission set forth by the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute and Hofstra University.
• Fulfills the role of the classroom teacher in his / her absence.
• Demonstrates understanding and respect for children, their developmental needs and interests; respect for a child’s family and culture; and commitment of continued professional development.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
