BSDC - Administrative Specialist (Open)

The Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC) is looking for an Administrative Specialist to provide vital support to our Facility Administrator and leadership team. This role is key to ensuring BSDC continues to meet regulatory standards, maintain effective procedures, and deliver quality services to the individuals we serve. Under limited supervision, the Administrative Specialist independently manages the day-to-day administrative operations of the facility. This includes establishing administrative procedures, determining work processes and staffing needs, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of work within assigned areas. The position requires exercising judgment and discretion to interpret and adapt complex regulations, resolve issues, and recommend solutions. Frequent interaction occurs with internal teams, agency leadership, community partners, and representatives across state government to coordinate operations, interpret policies, and ensure alignment with BSDC's mission.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide administrative support to the Facility Administrator.
- Serve as the lead contact for review and revision of facility policies and procedures.
- Support the BSDC leadership team in maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Provide administrative assistance to all disciplines across the facility.
- Submit and track requests to fill vacant positions and support staffing processes.
- Plan, organize, and monitor administrative operations to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Interpret and communicate agency policies, procedures, and program requirements to internal and external stakeholders.
- Research and analyze data to support decision-making, program evaluation, and operational improvement efforts.
- Coordinate communication, reporting, and documentation for leadership and agency-wide initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements : At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in : administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative / management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to assigned work.Understanding of office management practices and accurate record-keeping methods.Ability to prepare clear and organized administrative reports.Skilled in research, data collection, and analysis to support decision-making.Knowledge of effective work planning, organization, and prioritization methods.Proficient with business computer applications and communication systems.Ability to build positive relationships and work cooperatively with leadership, staff, and the public.Capable of identifying and interpreting policies, procedures, and program requirements to provide guidance.Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to recommend effective solutions.Able to communicate information clearly and professionally in both written and verbal formats.Willingness and ability to learn the structure, goals, and operations of BSDC and the State of Nebraska.
