We're excited to announce an opening for an early in career Product Development Engineer II to join our Exit Devices Team at ASSA ABLOY!
Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you will lead product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and develop new products. You will work on designing innovative mechanical and electromechanical systems, solving complex problems, and maintaining accurate documentation reflecting the latest updates.
This is a full-time, on-site position located in New Haven, CT.
Responsibilities include :
- Generating new product ideas, improvements, and cost-saving strategies based on market needs.
- Creating durable product designs using design reviews and FMEA tools.
- Reviewing peers' work in DFMA, FMEA, and PIP Gateway processes.
- Managing engineering change requests and product change proposals.
- Developing 3D models and 2D drawings with SolidWorks.
- Collaborating with production teams to improve product quality.
- Designing test plans, analyzing data, and supporting testing activities.
- Leading cost and value analysis efforts.
- Adhering to engineering standards and procedures.
- Providing project reports and managing task timelines.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical product development.Strong understanding of product design, materials, and manufacturing processes.Proficiency in SolidWorks, MS Office, and general PC skills.Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and process capability.Effective communication skills across various media.Ability to support system-level designs and mentor junior engineers.Problem-solving skills with quick and effective solutions.Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.Experience integrating electro-mechanical and electronic components.Effective time management and collaboration skills.Ability to select appropriate materials and processes for applications.We encourage you to apply today as we review applications regularly!
