Copperleaf is a new, chef-driven bakery opening in Harlem, rooted in the idea of reimagining beloved bakery classics through a cultural lens that reflects our neighborhood. We use European techniques as a foundation, but our flavors, ingredients, and stories are inspired by NYC and the community around us — creating something familiar yet new.

What you'll do :

We’re looking for someone experienced in making, decorating and baking cakes with both modern artistic finishes and classic techniques — someone who loves design as much as flavor and composition.  This role is ideal for a creative baker who enjoys developing visual concepts that feel fresh, expressive, and a little out of the box.  We are looking for people who are excited about their craft and are looking to bring positive energy and thoughtful creativity to this collaborative team.

The ideal candidate is :

Skilled in cake production and finishing, with strong attention to detail and design.

Experienced in baking a wide range of cakes, pastries, and sweets, including cookies, scones, pies, and culturally inspired or seasonal items.

Proficient in preparing fillings and components such as pastry creams, custards, buttercreams, ganache, and compotes, with a focus on texture and flavor balance.

Comfortable with piping, icing, enrobing, and modern decorative techniques.

Confident in visual composition, with an eye for color, texture, and overall presentation.

Enthusiastic about taking ownership of special orders, including birthday and celebration cakes, as well as small bespoke projects.

Interested in contributing to small, customizable bakery offerings like mini tarts, petit fours, and other detailed pastries.

Flexible and team-oriented, with a willingness to support both end-of-day prep and morning team needs.

Has at least 1 year of professional baking experience — or equivalent experience through a home-based business — and is eager to grow within a collaborative kitchen environment.
