Manufacturing Engineer Manager

The Institute for Emerging Technology at Pittsburg State University is searching for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager. The Manufacturing Engineer Manager participates in the research projects in the division, including but not limited to the fabrication, processing, and testing of new and / or commercial polymers and plastics. The Manager writes reports / manuscripts based on the results and contributes towards proposal writing for external funding. The Manufacturing Engineer Manager should be able to teach BS and MS-level relevant courses as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

55% - Research and Development

• Perform research : design and execute experiments such as preparing samples, processing, synthesizing, and characterization of polymers and plastics for various applications.
• Data acquisition, analysis, and writing reports.
• Maintain certain laboratory equipment, develop standard operating procedures, keep records.
• Teach one or two classes per semester as per need. Supervise, mentor, write and review technical results, and evaluate activities of students and junior researchers.
• Prepare written internal and external reports and presentations of technical results to internal and external constituents.
• Work with supervisor to write manuscripts and reports for presentations and publications.
• Assist AVP and Executive Directors to provide supervision of one or more technicians, undergraduate and graduate students, and other researchers working in the division.

35% - Business and Technical Management

10% - Other duties as assigned
