Insurance companies are one of the largest client segments at Oaktree, diversified across region and liability type. Representing approximately $31 billion in AUM across 130 relationships as of September 2025. The Insurance Solutions team at Oaktree is responsible for partnering with the business development and investment teams to deepen engagement with insurance clients, develop new products and solutions, and structure and customize strategies for effective balance sheet outcomes.

The Vice President, Insurance Solutions will play a key role in deepening Oaktree's engagement with insurance clients across North America and driving growth in insurance-related assets under management. This individual will combine technical and strategic expertise to structure and deliver investment solutions that align with insurers' capital, regulatory, and balance sheet objectives.
Work closely with the Head of Americas Insurance Solutions to execute the team's growth strategy through internal education, client engagement, and development of new insurance-focused products, solutions, and structures.
Fully support fundraising and client initiatives by :
Manage the structuring and rating agency process in collaboration with Business Development, Product Specialists, and Portfolio Management, including :
Oversee the creation of term sheets, cash flow models, rating agency submissions, and presentation materials for insurance clients.
Monitor and communicate regulatory and rating agency developments across the U.S., Canada, Bermuda, and Cayman Islands that impact insurance investors.
Serve as a subject matter expert on rating agency methodologies, regulatory capital frameworks (e.g., U.S. RBC, Bermuda BSCR), statutory reporting and other regulatory developments.
Contribute to the preparation of high-quality materials for internal and external stakeholders, including thought leadership and "Oaktree Insights" publications.
Quarterback technical insurance client due diligence requests through resolution, serving as a liaison between insurance clients, Business Development, Client Relations, Portfolio Managers, Product Specialists, Legal, Accounting, and Diligence Services.
Collaborate with Business Development, Client Relations, and Portfolio Management to identify / drive potential improvements in insurance LP and Consultant reporting.
Strong understanding of insurance investor interests, including risk appetite, liquidity needs, and regulatory and rating agency capital models, with the ability to translate those insights into effective investment solutions for insurance clients.
Deep knowledge of asset-liability management (ALM), regulatory and accounting frameworks, and capital calculations for U.S.-based insurance companies; familiarity with Canada, Bermuda, and Cayman Islands frameworks is additive but not required.
Demonstrated experience managing all phases of the rating agency process for rated notes, private securitizations, or other structures designed to improve capital outcomes for insurers.
Insurance portfolio construction experience regarding optimizing various strategies or portfolios within a regulatory, rating agency, and balance sheet framework.
4-6 years of relevant experience at an Insurance Company, Rating Agency, Investment Bank and / or Insurance Solutions Group within an Asset Management Firm.
Fundamental understanding of the private and public asset classes managed by Oaktree, including Private Debt, Opportunistic Credit, Real Estate Debt and Equity, Asset-Backed Finance, Structured Credit, High Yield, Leveraged Loans, Convertibles and others.
Proven ability to engage directly with institutional clients and key external stakeholders.
Superior communication / presentation skills (both written and verbal) with an aptitude for explaining technical concepts clearly and simply to key internal and external stakeholders.
Highly resourceful, exercising sound judgment in response to client and investor needs.
Willingness to travel to meet with insurance clients and attend industry conferences and events.
Ability to develop a thorough understanding of the legal, accounting, compliance, and investment aspects of Oaktree's products and platform.
Strategic and analytical thinker with a strong problem-solving orientation and attention to detail.
Confident, credible communicator able to represent Oaktree effectively with senior insurance, investment, and rating agency professionals.

Bachelor's degree required; MBA or CFA is preferred.
Base salary : $250,000 - $275,000
