St. Johns Ministries is a community-supported non-profit organization committed to making a positive impact in service to those experiencing homelessness in our community. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team to help maintain our various facilities.
Position Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance and operations of company facilities, ensuring all systems function efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities :
Building & Facility Maintenance
- Carpentry facilities patching walls, repairing doors, replacing locks / hinges, minor construction.
- Plumbing maintenance unclogging drains, fixing leaks, replacing faucets, repairing toilets.
- Electrical maintenance replacing light fixtures, switches, and outlets safely.
- HVAC maintenance changing filters, checking thermostats, identifying potential and current concerns to call in specialists.
- Painting & finishing maintenance touch-ups, drywall patching, sealing, staining, and exterior upkeep.
- Preventive maintenance scheduling and carrying out routine inspections to extend equipment / building life.
Groundskeeping & Outdoor Maintenance
Lawn care mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizing, aerating.Landscaping planting, mulching, pruning, weed control.Snow / ice removal safe salting, shoveling, and plowing.Parking lot / sidewalk upkeep sweeping, power washing, minor patching, line painting.Equipment & Systems
Tool and equipment maintenance keeping lawn mowers, blowers, and other machines serviced.Mechanical troubleshooting identifying issues with doors, elevators, appliances, or other systems.Inventory management keeping track of supplies, ordering parts, and stocking essentials.Safety & Compliance
Fire safety checks extinguishers, alarms, exit lights, emergency routes.OSHA & facility standards safe handling of chemicals, proper signage, ladder safety.Security checks doors, locks, lighting, and camera systems.Other Duties
Bring supplies / items between various shelters based on employee requests.Employees Supervised

High School Diploma or equivalent2+ years of experience in facilities maintenanceStrong knowledge of building systems, construction processes, and safety regulations.Drivers license requiredSkills and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.Ability to problem-solve hard or complex equipmentAbility to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Comfortability with people presenting with issues related to mental health challenges, substance abuse, trauma, low-income and / or homelessness, and / or experience in a healthcare setting.Ability to report to work at our various locations.Physical Demands :
Work Location : Spend significant time at the work location with extensive walking, lifting, and carrying materials up to 50 pounds.Computer Use : Perform administrative tasks involving computer use.Work Environment :
Occasional evening or weekend hours for urgent matters.Operate in an office environment using standard office equipment such as Outlook email.Follow safety protocols, including the use of PPE, to minimize health risks.Cleaning supplies are utilized to help prevent the spread of cold and flu viruses, ensuring a healthier environment for everyone.
